Stand Out With Custom, Branded Stage Design
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: if there is a stage at your event, you need to invest in the design and decor. This is where you want all eyes to stay! From keynotes to panels, to exhibitions and tutorials, the stage is your brand’s visual centerpiece so you want it to look GOOD. Good design and branding = credibility. Custom stage design featuring that branding = memorability.
Now that we’ve convinced you of the importance of stage decor, we’ll walk you through how to design a stage that fits your event’s purpose and leaves a lasting impression, from layout to custom elements.
Big & Branded
The main draw for a lot of corporate events and brand summits are speakers in front of a large audience. In this case, your stage should make a big statement so everyone gets a good view. We recommend going with an oversized backdrop and eye-catching lounge furniture. Think blown-up logos, dimensional signage or a custom build that reflects your brand’s personality.
What to ask your rental vendor for? This stage backdrop uses six 4’x8′ flats covered in vinyl with dimensional lettering, a large modular sofa and two lounge chairs, a stylish coffee table and tall plant accents. Make sure to adjust your decor choices based on the size of the actual stage!

Exhibition Stage
If you’re planning on teaching a skill or showing how a product works, your stage needs might be pretty specific. In this first example below, instructors gave festival attendees two-step lessons at Two Step Inn. We had a clear theme, being that this is a country music festival in Texas, and we went with it! Don’t forget the small decor pieces that will help pull your theme together.
What to ask your rental vendor for? This stage was set up in a park pavilion so we started with five Natural Wood Wall Panels as a backdrop instead of just floating it in front of the plain, brick wall. We used a 10’x8′ Branded Arch backdrop with colorful vinyl to catch guests’ eyes, complemented it with a contour cut Two-Step Inn sign and longhorn horns, and added a rug, wagon wheels, and a wood stage facade. We even flanked the stage with neon cacti and hung cowboy hat lights over the dance floor.

This next stage was for a cooking exhibition at Fredericksburg Food & Wine Festival. We built a custom bar with a butcher block counter top and branded the front of the stage design with the festival’s logo in dimensional lettering. Behind the stage were paneled walls to create a focal point under the tent. (Pro tip: if you’re creating a focal point, you don’t want guests to be able to see past your stage. Hold their attention on the presenter by creating a barrier from distractions!)
We set four of our arched Blonde Display Shelves behind the bar for any product the chef needed to display and we added custom signage that would float right behind the presenter.
What to ask your rental vendor for? The necessities for this stage design are white walls for the backdrop, well-designed shelving for product display, a custom built bar with dimensional lettering and large signage for the backdrop.
The Perfect Panel
When we planned this “What Vendors Wish You Knew” panel, we know we weren’t going to have an elevated stage. We invited other event professionals and wanted to foster an environment for discussion, so we kept everyone sitting on the same level. To make sure our stage was still the focal point, we picked eye-catching rentals in bright colors and had an acrylic sign made with bright red lettering.
What to ask your rental vendor for? Our stage was composed of slatted wood wall panels with a custom acrylic sign, a rug to section off your stage area, one lounge chair for the host and three lounge chairs of a different color for the panelists, a side table for decor (or waters for your speakers) and assorted large plants!

This Lone Star State-themed panel was on stage in the middle of a big hotel ballroom. Our corporate client wanted to bring some Texas vibes to their event but needed to keep things professional.
We combined neutral rentals with this colorful, layered, vinyl-covered backdrop for the perfect mix. The added dimension from using two large panels and two smaller panels made even more of a statement. Imagine this stage without the backdrop—the decor would have gotten lost against the large velvet curtain and wouldn’t had created as nice of a focal point.
What to ask your rental vendor for? For this setup at the Austin Marriott, we used two 4x’8′ panels flanked with two 3’x5′ panels covered in custom vinyl, multiple rugs to layer, four neutral lounge chairs, two side tables and multiple large plants.

If you take one thing away from this blog post, let it be that you shouldn’t skip the custom elements when thinking about your stage design! It doesn’t have to be difficult. Chances are you have at least a company logo and brand colors that you can use to create a statement backdrop. Then, just add interesting, design-forward rentals and you’re set—you’ve upped the credibility of your event with this decor investment!
