Meet the Moonbrides! đ
Not one but TWO of the Moongals (in case you don’t know, this is what we call the ladies of the Moontower team đ), got engaged within a few months of each other! While it’s our business to help our clients plan their weddings, it’s extra fun when it’s two of our own and we couldn’t be more psyched to help make each of their unique personalities shine through on their big day.
If you were a fly on the wall in our office, you’d get a lot of good wedding planning insight, so we decided to let you in on some of the knowledge these girls already have (being a part of the industry) and also what they’re learning through the planning process.
Olivia, our Director of Sales and CX, is getting married this November at Distribution Hall on the East Side in Austin. She’s a master at event logistics and you can bet that her day will be so much fun for guests because she’s already thought of every detail to keep the party flowing.
Abby, one of our Sales & Design Leads, is getting married in February of 2026 at One Eleven East in Hutto. Abby is super artistic and creative soul, so we already know that her wedding day will be thoughtfully-designed and perfectly personalized.
Spill the Tea Champagne On Your Wedding Planning Journey
When you started wedding planning, what was the first thing you booked and why?
Olivia: Venue! I knew I had some specific needs that would be tricky to fulfill. I wanted it to be very central (downtown, ideally), large enough to fit 200-225 people for ceremony/cocktail hour/reception (so you need 3 distinct large spaces), and not a hotel (I didnât want any of my design decisions to be dictated by hotel carpet lol)
Abby: Photographer! The second we locked down a wedding date I contacted my dream photographer. Iâve always said I would happily get married under an overpass as long as we got great photos out of the day.
When you decided on your venue, did your vision for rentals change and in what way?Â
Olivia: I knew that I would have to rely heavily on my rentals to set the tone â Distribution Hall is such a blank canvas, which is what I wanted, but that definitely puts a lot of pressure on the design to bring the space to life. Iâve been focused on choosing rentals that will bring warmth, while staying clean and modern.
Abby: It was important for my venue selection to compliment my vision vs competing with it. One Eleven East was the only venue we toured with our wedding in mind specifically because itâs a true blank slate. I knew I wanted to showcase our personality through some bolder rental statement pieces so the venue needed to be simplistic and timeless. Having previously done some product shoots in the space I knew it was a great fit.. Iâve already started building out my rental order and itâs full of luxe textures and velvets with some fun pops of color.
What ended up being your non-negotiable rentals and why? The pieces that you canât go without.
Olivia: Tables and chairsâIâm doing Ciroc Tables with alternating Manhattan and Negroni Chairs. I knew I didnât want to do any linens, so the tables and chairs had to bring a lot of style/character on their own. Iâm also a die-hard for round tables as opposed to rectangular, I think it feels much more friendly!
Abby: Weâre getting married on Valentine’s day so my non-negotiables were a no brainer for me. Iâll be using our LâAngel Sweetheart Chairs at the head table and our Custom Color Heart Wall as either a photo moment or behind our cake stand.
If you had an unlimited wedding budget, what would you have more of rental-wise?Â
Olivia: Lounge!! Iâd love to have lots of vignettes + lounges sprinkled throughout the space, I think it really elevates the event and makes it feel luxurious.
Abby: Custom branded or fabricated items for sure. Iâm all about personalization and guest experience. If budget was no object it would be a dream to work with our fabrication team to create something from the depths of my Pinterest Board.
Whatâs your dream custom wedding fabrication?Â
Olivia: A fun, dimensional entryway. I think that wedding fabrication is all about guest experience, and I love the idea of my guests having fun going back and forth through some magical doorway to the world of my wedding!
Abby: Some sort of backdrop or elevated platform for our ceremony space!!
In general, whatâs one thing that surprised you about wedding planning even though youâre in the event industry?Â
Olivia: How early you have to book certain vendors! With rentals, weâre usually booked 3-6 months out, so thatâs what Iâm used to in terms of timeline. I hired my planner over a year out, and she told me that I needed to book my photographer and my hair + makeup team ASAP. If a vendor can only do one wedding in a day (like a photographer), you need to book them early.
Abby: Overall cost never fails to surprise me. Unless you actually have unlimited funds itâs hard to have it all. If youâre anything like me you’ve been curating a vision via Pinterest for ages but the reality is that the majority of events weâre shown are very high dollar. Just getting people into a venue and feeding them is a major expense. My best advice is to sit down with your partner and create a list of your top two to three priorities. Every vendor canât be a priority and creating a ranking will help you decide where to spend vs save/ DIY.
Give our audience one tip for choosing wedding rentals:Â
Olivia: Be creative, and push the envelope â even if itâs just a little! The more interesting/different your rentals are, the more likely your guests are to notice and interact with them, the more photos youâll have with people using them, and the more youâll be glad you added them to the budget.
Abby: Have fun with it! Iâm so fortunate to be getting married at a time/in a city where I feel like people are leaning away from tradition and curating a celebration that truly feels like them. Have fun with your rental selections because it doesn’t have to be all that serious.
Our whole team is over the moon (pun intended đ) for Olivia and Abby, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them. Stay tuned to see how they use Moontower rentals on their big day and if you want to chat more things wedding planning, we’re just a message away!
Stay tuned for the video interview!! đ
