As an event planner, you plan so many conferences each year, it can be easy to run out of ideas on how to refresh your stage design for conferences.
Conferences are supposed to be all business, but it doesn’t mean they need to be (or should be) lifeless! There are always ways to shake things up, regardless of your budget.
Freshening up your stage design will improve engagement and set your next conference apart from every other event you’ve planned before.
Creating Visual Interest
Create the right ambiance with the right furniture. Upgrading your stage furniture isn’t meant to outdo your speakers, it’s meant to create the right environment. And we get it! It’s easy to forget about your stage with so many other details to nail down. As an event planner, you should use the stage design to embody the brand, to improve engagement and show originality.
Have a design-forward mind – think about shape, texture, and color when evoking a certain response. Is it moody and a bit serious? Light-hearted and fun?
What’s the purpose of the event? Are you trying to create a sense of community and empower your audience? An uplifting and bold color palette might be best.
Make it a Branding Opportunity
Setting the stage is one of the easiest branding opportunities! Think about it… your attendees will be staring at that stage for HOURS! Each panel, each speaker, each important speech will be delivered from that stage.
The on-stage branding should remind guests why they are there. Signage, logos, and sticking to the brands’ color palette will reinforce their reason for being at the conference. Make sure it isn’t too overwhelming – the main focus is still the content!
Since the stage is such an important focal point, your photographer will be snapping a lot of shots of the stage. Whether it’s official event photography, or photos taken by attendees and posted to social media, you want to make the most of this opportunity. Make sure the brand is evident in the photos, it can gear up more buzz for next year’s conference and increase attendance! Or if it’s shared on social media, it’s a good opportunity to show off your sponsors.
Add Life to Your Stage
We’re a big fan of plants. These babies improve your mood, reduce stress, and enhance productivity. It is easy to love greenery because it’s a reminder of the great outdoors. Think of how calm you feel when you spend time outdoors in nature. Same thing! Even two plants can change the scene. Add a few Fiddle Leaf Figs or Palm Trees to breathe life into your stage.
