A 70s Theme Party Lounge
We know patterns can be intimidating to style, so we put together a 70s-inspired mini-shoot for inspiration featuring our Tequila Sunrise sofa—named after a cocktail allegedly made famous by The Rolling Stones on their 1972 tour. We’d like to think it would have been Jagger’s favorite place to sit during their rise to rock and roll fame. We also thought it was fitting because of how much of the influence of popular music movements—namely, disco, punk, psychedelia, and the hippie movement—shaped the look of the 70s.
With this wide range of influences, 70’s patterns leaned either geometric, bold and colorful or simple, DIY-style black and white. In both cases though, designs continued to swing away from the traditionalism and conformity of the 50s, a trend spurred by the 60s “free-spirit” movement. Our lounge setup hits this point home on a couple notes…
The Tequila Sunrise sofa features a unique geometric shape and a psychedelic pattern in warm sunset tones, a color palette especially popular in interior design. The more hard lined geometric checkerboard pattern of the rug and pillow—found in many DIY graphics of 70’s punk-loving youth—seems opposite in theory, but is a perfect balance to the sofa soft curves. We then topped it off with our disco-fabulous Lucky Luciano coffee table and gold side table to make it a real party.
Whether you’re going for a full 70s theme or just a nod, choosing one of these patterned pieces will infuse character into any space. We promise. Now all you have to do is bring the gold boots…
