Meet Moontower: Olivia Hartwell

We’re very excited to introduce Olivia Hartwell, our new Project Coordinator! Olivia went to UT Austin and doubled majored in Advertising and Plan II Honors (basically a “books” major—it’s an interdisciplinary liberal arts program where you study everything that involves tons of reading: literature, philosophy, sociology, history, and other humanities) AND minored in Creative Writing!

Olivia is the first point of contact for new wishlist requests + email and phone inquiries. She’s the gal putting quotes together and answering any questions regarding inventory and rental policies! She’s also the writer behind some of the blogs here on the site and email content that we hope you receive in your inbox [if not, subscribe in the footer!].

Get to know a bit more about the new member of the Moontower team.

Where are you from?
I grew up in southern Connecticut, less than an hour outside NYC.

What’s your creative background
?
I minored in Creative Writing, and I’m currently working on a year-long thesis project that will (hopefully) become a novel!

Tell us a bit about your family?
We’re totally spread out across the country – my parents live in NYC, my brother is out in Portland, Oregon, and I’m here in ATX.

How did you get to Austin?
I might have grown up in CT, but I’ve always been a Texan at heart. My dad is originally from Dallas, and he went to UT as well. It’s been Bevo or bust since day one.

What cocktail are you currently ordering?
If I’m feeling fancy I go for a French 75. Any excuse to drink champagne at all times. (Also a shoutout to our awesome French 75 tables and chairs.)

What’s your ultimate party song?
It’s a tie between Body by Loud Luxury and Pony by Ginuwine. A mix of new stuff and throwbacks is key.

What is an activity you do to restore creativity?

Cook without a plan or a recipe. It sounds weird, but I love going to the kitchen and picking out a bunch of random stuff from my refrigerator and coming up with a way to use it all.

What’s your favorite piece of Moontower furniture?
The Aperol Lounge Chair. I’d feel elegant in that chair even if I sat in it upside down, which I’m really tempted to do.

What’s your most-used emoji?

🙃 Sometimes you’re just feeling kind of upside down.
